40 years René Egli Fuerteventura
Unveiling of the "René Egli Trophy"
The INNSiDE by Meliá Fuerteventura once again hosted an unforgettable evening to share and create memories: while celebrating the 40th anniversary of René Egli Fuerteventura with historical pictures and videos, PWA Tour Manager Rich Page surprised the initiator and organizer of the World Cup on Fuerteventura - René Egli himself - with the René Egli Trophy. All the winners of the 36 World Cups held on Fuerteventura are engraved on the trophy and all future winners will also be honored.
In addition, the close partnership between René Egli Fuerteventura and Severne Windsurfing was shown in an emotional highlight video of joint events, along with numerous personal congratulations from famous team riders and windsurfers. Many of them were on site to enjoy the atmosphere, nice conversations and the sponsored beers together with guests and René Egli team members of the past and present.
The unique René Egli Trophy will remain on Fuerteventura, honoring René Egli for his tireless work for windsurfing.

“Its not in any way an exaggeration to say that none of us would be here this week, if it were not for the vision, drive, commitment and hard work that René has given to the sport.
His tireless efforts and dedication have created not only one of the longest running and best organised events on the tour, but also a windsurfers paradise and tourism boom for the southern shores of Fuerteventura.
I have been lucky enough to have had the pleasure and privilege of working with René for the last 29 years, so on behalf of both myself and the PWA, I want to say a heartfelt thank you for everything he has done for the association and the sport.
René has created a legacy that lives on, and part of that legacy, and one of the things we can also be incredibly thankful for, was his decision to take Annika on board to take the helm of the centre, and the event, before he took the decision to step back and enjoy this incredible achievement.
Annika has done, and continues to do, an amazing job in organising the event with her team and has allowed the tradition of excellence that the Fuerteventura World Cup, and the René Egli name represent, continue for years to come.
So, from all of us here, and from so many of the biggest names in the sport who have come before, we thank you both for everything you do to allow us to continue the sport and the life we love!”
